AI is compressing the work junior teams used to bill for. The advisory firms that win next will sell judgment and outcomes, and market like it.

For decades, consulting, legal and advisory firms grew the same way: partners won the work and a wide base of junior staff did the research, analysis and drafting. AI now does a growing share of that base work in minutes. Clients notice, and they’re less willing to pay by the hour for it. Thomson Reuters’ survey of more than 2,200 legal, tax and compliance professionals expects AI to save them 12 hours a week by 2029.[1]
At the same time, the way buyers find advisors is changing. Before they ever call, they ask a search engine or an AI assistant who to trust. In G2’s 2026 survey of 1,076 B2B buyers, 51% said they now prefer to start research in an AI chatbot rather than Google.[2] Firms that only grow by referral are invisible in that moment.
When the analysis is cheap, the point of view is the product.
Websites that list services, not thinking
Pages of practice areas and stock photos tell a buyer nothing about how you think or why you’re different.
A referral ceiling
Referrals are high quality but you can’t scale them. Without an inbound engine, growth stalls when the partners are busy.
Expertise nobody can see
The firm’s best insights live in client memos and meetings, never in public.
A CRM that’s really a contact list
Intake calls, emails and follow-ups scattered across inboxes mean leads slip and nobody knows what’s working.
Publish a point of view
Name your framework, take positions and show your reasoning. It builds trust with humans and gives AI systems something specific to cite.
Productize the front door
Offer a fixed-scope, fixed-price first engagement, like a diagnostic or an audit. It lowers the risk of saying yes and opens the larger relationship.
Be the answer AI cites
Clear, specific pages for each service, consistent firm information everywhere, and answers to the questions clients actually ask.
Run intake like a pipeline
Connect phones, forms and email to one CRM so every inquiry is captured, followed up and measured to a signed engagement.
